Obviously not an ideal doggone hand at this juncture of the game-this configuration of cards has the best chance of pegging 2 if we get a cut to 8- the dealer is already at 108 so there’s not any value in breaking anything up and going full defensive mode
Eolus619 says: Morning Rob..your repeated use of doggone it takes back to my childhood ( a very long time ago now )… I can hear my Grandfathers voice ..when he wanted to express his displeasure about my behavior he would say…….” doggone your buttons anyhow “ which makes little sense..but I can assure you if he was talking directly to you …then the intent and meaning of the phrase would crystal clear ❗️

At this position I can't think more than defence If I toss QQ or 77 its can end in a 12 points cribb what put opponents in the stink holl or very close to that toward the last hand of the match when we going to be counted last, for that I think better be more cautious.

Only two pitches allow you a reasonable chance (with a reasonable cut) to reach the game hole from this position before Dealer gets there. Forget about playing defense with Dealer 13 holes out (unless you peeked and saw 2-4-6-8-T-K). Pitch the 7-7 or the Q-Q. More hits to get there or to get close by pitching Q-Q, which also likely leaves a better pegger. After that unfortunate face card cut, it is very unlikely we will win this game, so take whatever pegs you can to reduce the spread.

If we were three points closer I might entertain 2-2-7-Q but I will go for the game chance winner here. dec

4 additional cuts to 8 plus better peggers. Missed the cut today, take whatever pts you can find.

fentesk says: Opponent pegging on hand 7 cost me the skunk today. Do you recall if the crib for Hand 2 had a flush? I didn't discard suited (I'm sure because I didn't notice) and saw you were already at 46 when I was sitting at 37 and decided to send A-5 to better get into position.
tevdodd says: Pegging. Mine was 12-7 for hand 2 vs 3-2 for you.
fentesk says: Gotcha, thanks!
Eolus619 says: tevdodd..well done on wordle..my first clue word yielded four letters in the correct places ……took me three guesses .so i am considering filing an “unofficial” protest about words like this❗️ …😩

Best chance for a hand and pegging potential. In general, if the dealer is less than 16 out, we should assume full offense.

I think i like this type of hand (3 pairs) the least. Anyway, in this case I want to keep as many points as I can keep and hoping the Qs at least limit dealer’s potential in the crib.

Anyone know the odds of balking both the hand and crib of the dealer?
superdow says: chat gpt is telling me, based on info it found on the web, not its own calculations, that the odds are 1 in 150 to 200 deals. Off hand those odds seem way to high
superdow says: I mean way to low..

Not an ideal hand for this late stage of the game. Keeping this way because there’s multiple ways the cut for 8 points and a cut 6 makes for 12. Sure enough our cut today is a blasted K.

On the play looking to lead 7 and keep the 2s to the end of the play hoping to score three of a kind. If we score well on the play and opponent has a whiffed hand we hold the chance to peg out next round.

I don't like any of the choices (obviously). I am hoping beyond hope their hand is as bad or worse, and trying to stay for another day.

I am breaking from the pack today. I will play the 7 first and hope they play any 10 on it..... that pair of deuces will look very attractive then. Also, tossing any pair to the crib is strong potential for desperation tosses by the pone.

Deceptively good puzzle. 2-2-7-Q has the better chance of getting that (31-4) we're all hoping for, if we don't get the 6 cut. See Sgt Pegger above. But I just can't bring myself to start with only 2 points. Too many high cuts of 9, 10, and K that leave me with only 2. Using our Sweet Sixteen usually ends with just the (31-2). Same with our Three Card Eleven. Perhaps the Sarge has it just right. The 7 lead with the Q as second card will get the job done more reliably. that's why I say it's a deceptively good puzzle.

At 111-108* playing an Offense strategy for the pegging the Win/Loss %s are:

Offense_________Win %________Loss %
2-2-7-7__________22.8_________71.5
2-2-Q-Q__________16.7_________72.9
7-7-Q-Q___________8.9_________70.9
2-2-7-Q*__________5.1_________58.4

* unsuited 7-Q

2-2-7-7 is best for Win %s but has the highest Loss %s while 2-2-7-Q* has the lowest Loss %s. As I'm recommending an Offense strategy I'll select the Q-Q to discard.

After the K cut I'll lead a 7 and play Offense:

Best chance of getting a decent amount of points. All is lost otherwise.
