Go for a max of 12 rather than 10 with this hand.

We have already reached the Third Street Par Hole 70 with Two Points to spare, so let's rid ourselves of the most Defensive Discard that is available to us, as any other idea gives away more to our Opponent, without adding anything to our Hand. β˜•

Holding Two PAIRS of (8 8 9 9) would only make sense in some "End-of-Game" or Desperado Situation, such as (105-115*), and that's definitely NOT the case here! 🍐🍐 πŸ’€ πŸ›‘

Let's Toss (4 9) today. After the Queen Cut, we are blessed with Four Points. Let's lead an 8c Card from our magnanimous PAIR. 🎱

Not liking anything on this menu. Hedging with the 4-9. No sense in tossing 45 hoping for a 7,
Lead the 8 and play smart.

Guess I was feeling the cut that didn't come again. With the opportunity to cut 20 and put us to 92, I'll take the risk of the 4-5 suited discard here with opp currently -8 of the positional hole giving us a little leeway vs a larger crib.

The better question today might be ... does our card need the skunk? Would that change anyone's thought process here?

Inushtuk1 says: Hi tevdodd. My question is could we more likely get the skunk with the (4-9)?
Eolus619 says: Morning tevdodd..Needing a skunk, I would still not discard 4/5. It averages 7+ across the board and can easily put the opponent back in the game. Holding 8-8-9-9 has a 8% chance to cut to 20. Discarding 4/5 has the risk of running into frequent dealer discards like..2/3..6/9..6/7..A/3..Q/K..J/Q..5/K..3/4..5/J..10/J..J/K I wouldn't’ want the score next hand to turn into .say… 77*-82(+)

You could choose 4-9 and play this for the 5-8-8 pegging trap,

5(5)-X(15/2)-8(23)-"go"-8(31/4),

but I'll discard 4-8 instead. Even-even discards make it less likely a 15 combo will be created in the crib than odd-even or odd-odd, since odd totals cannot be created using only even digits.

Some time passed between guesses 3 and 4.
Inushtuk1 says: Hi james500. I hope you are well. Remember Ras always insists that the even-even discards to the opponent's Crib is more myth than fact, and gives many examples.

Already in good position here. Will not give opponent a chance to jump back into this game with a potential huge crib.

I’m with most of the crowd today-I think the interesting part of the hand is the pegging-in this position I’m leading the 5 to limit the potential damage of a dealer middle card hand-it’s unlikely a 7 will be his response so we should escaoe basically unscathed

With few options damage control in their crib seems the best one. I'll lead the 8 and take my chances

We are beyond our positional hole and Dealer is short. Unless we are in desperate need of a skunk to qualify and need a magic cut card, do not pitch the 4-5 which might help Dealer get back into position to defeat us.

Like the Shark said above. Unless we were way behind in the second half of the board, why toss the (4-5)? I like the 5 lead here. The 8 lead would be a close second choice; but I like what Rob said about the 7 response. That could help the Dealer get back into position.

Too big a risk to give away 4-5. The same cuts that would help 8899 will also help 889.

9-4 toss. Nothing new to add to last several comments.
