Comes down to giving the dealer 6 points for a 7 point hand, or hedging. I'll hedge. Lead the 3. |

Very good raz puzzle today. I agree with Gougie's assessment, but fortune favors the bold. Lead the 5, because it's always fun to see your opponents reaction when you open a game by leading a 5. Gougie00 says: Being a kamikaze pilot does not end well. |

Choices include Toss (9 J), Toss (9 T), Toss (2 3), and Toss (2 9). Let's Toss (9 J) today. After the 5s Cut, we now have Ten Points in this often-under-counted Hand (2+3+5+5=15 sometimes missed). Let's lead the Trey and try to peg a few holes.

Discarding 2-3 as n/der might have to be done on 4th street..but most certainly not on games 1st deal to hold just 7 & bet on a cut ..so no “Colvert” for me today ..GFDer needs eight to maintain “26” advantage and 2-3 averages 7.3 in the crib. |

It’s early so I’ll keep the the run and the points. 23 toss worth the risk. |

I’m with Gary today. Aggressive as first pone with this hand which seems to receive favorable cuts often. |

I would try 5-9-10-J(2-3) on 3rd or 4th Street, but not at 0-0*. But 3-5-10-J (2-9) seems too defensive. I will lead my 10, keeping the the 2-3-5 for later on offense. Inushtuk1 says: It's not usually a good idea to keep a 7 point hand, and toss the opponent a discard that averages over 7 points. As I mentioned I would have to be further down the board than this. The 3-5-10-J(2-9) seems okay, but the average hand is lower than 2-3-5-10 by 0.44 points, and will not peg as well offensively with only two cards of high pegging value. |

As Pone, first hand, need to be aggressive to try to approach that distant par hole (18). If we can do that, we can beat First Dealer to the game hole ... even if our 2-3 gives him a good crib first deal. With this great cut, we have 13 meld and should expect 1 or 2 more in the play. If our next hand (as Dealer) is above average, our opponent might need to play defense the rest of this game. |

Not crazy about holding 4 instead of 7. Certainly some risk, but that's cards. |

Nobody likes, tossing the second best set of cards into the opponent’s crib but sometimes you have to do what you have to do. |

At 0-0* playing an Offense strategy for the pegging the dynamic expected averages and Win/Loss %s are:
________________Our Offense____Hand_Pegs_Crib____Total___W9 %____W10 % 2-3-5-10____7.22+1.70+(-4.81)=4.11____25.6____23.7 5-9-10-J____9.76+1.30+(-7.19)=3.87____30.5____23.3 2-3-5-J_____7.48+1.63+(-5.24)=3.87____26.1____22.9 3-5-10-J____6.80+1.50+(-4.48)=3.82____24.1____23.7 Offense_______L9 %____L10 % 2-3-5-10_______38.4____50.9 5-9-10-J_______44.7____53.0 2-3-5-J________40.5____52.2 3-5-10-J_______36.5____50.3 2-3-5-10 is best for expected averages by 0.24pt. However, 5-9-10-J is best for Win %s but is worst for Loss %s. So I'll select the 9-J to discard. After the 5 cut I'll lead the 5 and play Offense: Lead______________Our Pegging Points 5________________________1.74 3________________________1.71 10_______________________1.67 2________________________1.59 |

9 J from me because I’m not giving dealer more points on average than I’m keeping in hand by throwing 2 3. |
